THE CHOICE OF A CAREER IN THE PLANETARY ERA (as submitted to Planetary Magazine)

We are both 17 year-old “cariocas”, second graders and Andrews’ students. We enjoy jogging, studying and walking around our neighborhood in Lagoa; a very nice place to exercise, with beautiful views, walking lanes and contact with the nature.
One of us – Hugo - intends to follow the carrer of foreign relations because he is pleased with that. Besides, it is a growing market in Brazil, as well as a new career.
The other one – Deborah - is going to follow the career of biotechnology, which is a new area with a promising market. Her choice was this because she likes the scientific area very much.
We expect to get to good universities, where we can learn a lot and get prepared for the market, which is getting more competitive every day. To achieve that, we have to study a lot, to pass vestibular. The vestibular is the test that determines whether you can get or not to a fine university.
So, since now we have been working really hard to get where we want. We are very optimistic about our career choices because we really like what we chose and we have all the skills to be successful.
