We need investments in sports (as submitted to Planetary Magazine)

Today, Brazilian athletes are having more space in the international scenery.
Although soccer is what everyone remembers when people talk about Brazil Brazilian soccer is not everything in the country. We have great players at different kinds of sports too; for example, tennis (Gustavo Kuerten), volleyball , boxing , and gymnastics.
At volleyball, our team is the best. At tennis, Guga was the first at the world ranking. But our out-standing athlete is Daiane dos Santos, who is our best gymnast. She has created two new jumps, which received her name : “Dos Santos”
We also have a wonderful boxer whose name is Acelino “Popo” Freitas. He managed to do what no other Brazilian did - he won 3 belts from different associations.
So, Brazilian talents can be found in a lot of sports, but just soccer receives a big investment and this is the reason for our bad results at the Olympics.
