Brazilian Music (as submitted to Planetary Magazine)

We think Brazilian music is very good. We have all kinds of music from samba to rock, and our singers and bands are or were perfect.
Unfortunately, a lot of wonderful singers have already passed away like Ellis Regina, Renato Russo, Cássia Eller, Cazuza and others. But today there are a lot of good singers and bands, too, like Maria Rita, Gal Costa, Charlie Brown Jr., Marisa Monte, Marcelo D2, Pitty, and Ivete Sangalo, among others.
You can perfectly see that the examples mentioned above show the diversity of Brazilian music. In Brazil there is samba, forró, axé, rock, pop, etc... And there is also the happiness of the Brazilian people. In a concert in Brazil everybody laughs, shouts, and jumps showing support for the singers. The pleasure of the public is made explicit.
Nowadays teenagers’ favorite kinds of music include hip-hop, rock, pop, surf music and rap. But Brazilian pop music isn't so good because it's sung by Sandy e Junior and other teenage groups which we don't like much.

How would you rate the emergency response efforts for Hurricane Katrina?

Options include:

A five; we're all doing all we can do

A four; People have really come together. Even if the rescue efforts were hampered a little, everyone is chipping in to help

A One; What else could they have done, given the conditions of the city?

A three; They tried hard, but factors outside of their control (looters, fires, chaos) slowed them down

A two; It was about what I expected would happen

A zero; why did President Bush wait so long to send troops? Why was there so much miscommunication among government officials?

Emergency Response? What emergency response? Government officials up through Bush should all be fired!

I'm just glad I wasn't there

If people had heeded the evacuation orders, everything would have been fine
